Brooke Ligertwood wrote the song with her husband Scott and Phil Wickham in the old Southern California church hall where Wickham's congregation meets. She recalled being inspired by the generational nature of the Church of Jesus, thinking about the thousands of hallelujahs that had been sung in that room, and said the song just poured forth. It was recorded live on 11 November 2021 at The Belonging Co in Nashville and released in January 2022 as the lead single from SEVEN, her first solo live album.
