About “God I Look to You”
Jenn Johnson wrote God I Look to You with Bethel keyboardist Ian McIntosh, who would send her instrumental tracks as a blank canvas to write over. Johnson has said the song began as a prayer she sang in the car as a young mom in an overwhelming season, and that she deliberately reworked a line about being overwhelmed into a declaration that she would not be. Bethel Music released it in 2011 on Be Lifted High, recorded live at Bethel Church in Redding, California, and it became one of the movement's most enduring early songs.
