About “Rejoice”
Dustin Kensrue, frontman of the rock band Thrice and then a worship pastor at Mars Hill Church, wrote the song with British hymn writer Stuart Townend of In Christ Alone fame; Kensrue mapped out the structure and main verse ideas and Townend contributed to them. Kensrue told NewReleaseToday he wanted a song that called people to rejoice in what God has done and who He is, and who we are in Him, pointing to Paul's command to rejoice even in suffering. The Modern Post was the worship band Kensrue led at Mars Hill's Orange County campus, and this recording appears on The Water & The Blood from 2013.
