About “Good Good Father”

The song was written by Pat Barrett and Tony Brown of the Atlanta worship collective Housefires, who first recorded it in 2014. Barrett has said the song grew out of becoming a father and wondering how he would explain God to his young daughter, while Brown, who grew up without knowing his own father, brought his own weight to the theme of God's fatherhood. Chris Tomlin picked it up after his wife Lauren heard it at a conference in Georgia, and released his version in October 2015 as the lead single from Never Lose Sight.
