I Thank God came out of the collaboration between Atlanta's Maverick City Music and UPPERROOM, a Dallas prayer and worship ministry, and was written by a seven-person team including Aaron Moses, Chuck Butler, Dante Bowe, Enrique Holmes, Jesse Cline, Jonathan Traylor and Maryanne J. George. The recording was captured live at UPPERROOM in Dallas in 2020, with Dante Bowe, Maryanne J. George and Aaron Moses as featured vocalists, and released in January 2021 on the joint EP Move Your Heart. It is a testimony song of gratitude, moving from the picture of a life that was lost and out of strength to celebration of the God who turned it around.
